Meaghan Chicoine is the owner and primary speech and language pathologist of MidCoast, LLC. I have been a practicing speech language pathologist all over New England since 2015. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology with a minor in Deaf Studies from Ithaca College and went on to receive my Masters of Science in Education from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. I hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) through ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) and am licensed to practice in the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont.
I have years of experience working with multiple early intervention programs and private practices across states. I specialize in evaluating and treating the pediatric population with a variety of needs in receptive and expressive language, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), fluency, social skills, pragmatic language, and articulation. I have a passion for working with children with developmental and medical diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, hearing impairments, developmental delays, stuttering, ADD/ADHD, and Specific Language Impairment.
I happily accept that my own three young children have reduced my "spare time", but if available, I love exploring new restaurants with my husband and reading on Pine Point Beach!
MidCoast SLP speech and language pathologists (SLPs) hold licensure through the state of Maine Board of Speech, Audiology, and Hearing, which requires receiving a masters degree from an accredited program. Additionally, the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) is held. This is a voluntary certification that demonstrates an SLP's knowledge, skills, and expertise in providing high-quality clinical services. It is awarded through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), the nation's leading professional, credentialing, and scientific organization for speech-language pathologists, speech, language, and hearing scientists, audiologists, audiology and speech-language pathology support personnel, and students.
Each child will have an individualized plan of care developed by their speech language pathologist that focuses on their specific strengths, functional goals, and interests. Services occur in a private treatment room. Clinicians work with families to develop home programs to promote carryover and generalization.
Services will focus on promoting the generalization of skills and routine based strategies.
My goal is the same as yours, independent and functional communication!
